No matter which path we choose, we always return to our homeland with great love and kindness in our hearts. This feeling should stay with us every day, so that we remain ourselves. My first home in Dzūkija is a very dear and valuable piece of land that has been passed down from generation to generation. I am the fourth generation living here. This homestead is very old, built around 1930, although its first documents were issued only in the post-war period. From my grandmother’s stories, it was clear that it had seen both war and difficult post-war life. There was also a connection with the partisans who defended our region. There were many hardships and many decisions made that helped people survive and continue living during extremely difficult times. My great-grandfather, who was a medical assistant, even established a wartime hospital in this house, and even German soldiers were treated here, despite being enemies.

I also experienced the fate of an orphan, which I still remember often. Even though I now have my own beloved family, I cannot forget those hardships. Surrounded by beautiful nature, memories, and love for life, it is possible to endure all difficulties.

Therefore, I would like to invite you all to our museum, which is filled with the atmosphere of ancient everyday life. The collected exhibits blend perfectly with modern life. You will feel the importance of traditional crafts and taste teas made from herbs and berries collected in our forests. Everyone is welcome.

When you visit our homestead, the importance of the past will be strongly felt and visible. The unique arrangement of exhibitions will remain in your memory for a long time. The wooden structures and creations made from forest materials will enrich your imagination and help you understand that simple things are irreplaceable in everyday life.
